These drives usually have either sockets for resistor packs (older drives)
or a jumper that enables/disables termination. Try looking for info on the
drive by make and model using Google, or going to the manufacturer's
website. Sometimes jumper info is printed on the drive.

You can buy terminators. I don't think it would be worth making your own.
The active are better. Use Google to search for a SCSI FAQ if you really
want the details- there is a lot of technical info on SCSI available on the
net.
