Having been unable to control my curiosity any further, I proceeded to
do the modifications I outlined above. First of all, it's in the
middle of the night, so there wouldnt be anyplace for me to buy a 24
pin IC socket. (7-11 here dont carry that stuff) So I looked at my
stash of junk and found an old LAN card with a boot ROM socket. It
has more pins but it'll do. Off with the socket. Then I soldered a
piece of UTP wire (the only one I have at the moment) between pin 12
(gnd) and pin 18, after bending pin 18 inward. Picture taken with my

Pictures were taken with a handspring eyemodule II... this seems to
require sunlight, the handheld flashlight I used didnt seem to be
much help.
