I agree that Basic is a good language to begin with.  Those who want or need
more a more powerful language can move to a second, third, or fourth (no pun
intended) language as the need arises.

For one, I would like to see a simple form of Basic included with new
computers again.  Being able to easily create simple programs might
encourage more people to learn at least a little about what is inside that
metal (or plastic) box, and how it all works.
