well, the IIGS used ADB mice so any older, non-USB mac mice would have
worked.  The //e and //c used mac-plus type mice.  I think it would be
possible to convert a normal PC mouse to work with //e and //c from
the diagrams in the //c technical reference manual, but  you will be
going around all the ps2 or serial circuitry and interfacing it
directly to the buttons and the optical detectors.  If there were a
way to demultiplex this info from modern day wireless mice then it
should be possible to do that.  I'm going to try converting one of my
ps2 mice (i have a big pile of it) to work with my //c.  will post
results later
