also remember that before the xebec 10mb hd (which then became the
sider..looks the same and is same as sider but has xebec faceplate before
the first class peipherals faceplate)
there was a box version of the sider called the trustor 30 meg i think was
the only thing it came as? it basically was a sider (sasi?) version
maybe...anyway i think? that a xebec sider card will run a 10mb sider/ 20mb
sider/ 10mb xebec/ prob the above the GSP faceplate sider mentioned below
and i think the trustor 30mb
at the very least even if the newer sider/xebec software does not run those
particular units i'd be very surprised if it would not run them somewhere in
the daisy chain of scsi/sasi drives..for upward compatibility for old
customers even if you had to have the newer unit as the 1st unit in the
chain
managed to get a 30meg turstor for 10 bucks or some such on ebay cause it
was in pc area and no one knew what it was
also on the GSP faceplate unit mentioned in this thread
(see below copied link/msg)
that is guite the cool looking little cooling/fan unit on top of the
sider...what is it called?...or it is a homebrew project?
pretty neat looks well constructed as well
anyway...sider's are a weakness in my apple 2 collecting (when i remember my
poor youth and a 10meg was 999 bucks or some such for a xebec 10mb/card/docs
sigh)
so when i see them on ebay i always bid..but i have prob 10 plus in various
states of repair prob 8 work..its prob time to stop although they look
really neat lined up in my metal wall mart storage cabinet with other apple
goodies in the bsmt..
anyway what is that fan unit on top of the sider in the pic on the GSP
labeled unit (see links below)
again never saw anything like that before
oh...and i think most of the above stuff WILL work on a ramfast scsi
card..it recognizes sasi vs scsi on the older stuff..not sure if apple 2
scsi card does as well on sasi/scsi
