It should work. Almost all SCSI CD-ROM drives will work with a IIgs.

Assuming you have it connected to the SCSI card, the bus properly
terminated, and the RAMFast driver loaded (same driver as used for hard
drives)...it should work.

Apple was always a bit weird about supporting third-party CD-ROM drives
and hard drives on the Mac, to the point of putting in code in their
drivers to check which brand of drive you were using.

Lowend Mac has a page on modifying Apple's CD-ROM driver to remove the
check. You can also get the driver that shipped with Mac OS 7.6 or so.
This was the time when Apple was on the verge of shipping their OS for
unlicensed Mac-compatibles, so the driver works with a much larger range
of drives.
