The developer in charge of the apple II stuff in M.E.S.S. has been
missing in action for a few years now.  A few years back I did try to
make some work on it to enable color output (everything defaults to
green screens) and sent my patches back to the developers.  I don't
know if they got it but they never made it to succeeding releases
