Hello,
Today while looking for old video games in thrift stores I found an
Apple PowerCD. I though it looked cool and it seemed to work fine so I
bought it. When I got home I hooked it up to my stero and it worked
great... but now I'm wondering... since this is also a SCSI CD-ROM drive
as well as a stand-alone CD player, would it be possible to use on my
Apple IIGS?
I pulled out my GS OS system disks and installed the CD-ROM driver and
media controller on the hard drive and turned the IIGS off. Then I set
the PowerCD's ID to a number that wasn't used yet and hooked it up to my
IIGS's SCSI chain. Then I turned on the drives on my SCSI chain..waited
a few seconds... and turned on the IIGS. The computer started booting
up, it was a little slower than usual and non of the icons that normaly
load up on the bottom of the screen showed up. The computer just stoped
and sat there when the progress bar reached the end.
I figure it probably just isn't compatible with the Apple High-Speed
SCSI card in my IIGS but decided to post here just incase there's
something I'm missing.
Thank you.
