Re: Burning EPROMs

Hi, I was wondering if there is any specific type of EPROM one would
have to get to burn repacements for various Apple II related cards.

I've looked at my local electronics components store, and there is
quite a nunber of 28 pin EPROMs of different speeds and capacities..

While I don't have a burner, I know someone who does, and he just told
me that all that mattered is whether or not it has enough memory to
hold the program.

Just to let you know what I'm trying to get replicated is a TWGS 1.8s,
and an AE Vulcan Gold EPROMs.

I'm pretty much venturing into new ground on this, and this will be
done early next week so I would like to get some guidance.

I've already bought some 256k 120ns EPROMs and hope they will work.

Since there is alot of out of support hardware that have various
versions of frimware on EPROMs, is there a list someone can compile
for a FAQ, or has that already happened?

The TWGS used a 27C256 while the Vulcan used a 27C128. I don't know if
a card designed for one size would be able to use a larger size. Not
an area I'm knowledgeable in. I have some of both around. Depending
on where you are I may be able to drop some off. I'm living in
Vancouver but I'm working in Port Moody.

The EPROM burner I have only does 27C64 and smaller unfortunately.
Still I've been making images of all the ROMs I have that this
burner will read. An ApplesBC member has been trying to build an
EPROM burner that'll do larger sizes of EPROMs. He's had a few
setbacks but said he was hoping to give a progress report and
maybe get some feedback at the Apple II meeting next week.
