I went to work for Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in 1981, and the 50-pin
connectors available in the stockroom were (still) green.

(HP had a policy of supplying stockroom components free to their
engineers for whatever projects they wanted to build.  Woz worked
there in the late 70's.)
