Just to clarify this a little, the Apple II that I have is the oldest
production model Apple II that I was able to verify, either by photos or
otherwise. I was careful NOT to claim that it was the oldest surviving Apple
II in my item description because I cannot prove that either way. There might
be small number of older Apple II's but I think that it's safe to say that
there probably aren't many. I think that it would be interesting to document
something like that, for future reference. Maybe make some sort of registry
for old computers like the Altair and Apple II. They do that with other
things like coins and paintings. Why not do it with computers as well?
What's really important about this computer is that it's basically an
unmodified first-run system. The original owner added the Programmer's Aid
and Autostart ROM to existing empty sockets, and he also added additional
memory chips to bump it up from 32k to 48k but those could be removed to take
it back to original condition.
