Chris:
I have a IIc+ but no original disks or docs for it either. I only use
the 3.5" drive for ProDOS applications like AppleWorks and the like.
The IIc+ shines as a very fast IIe and the storage capacity of the 3.5"
drive is great for big applications (AppleWorks or AppleWriter 2).
If I can be of any assistance, let me know. But you have the basics
down as to what you need to do.
You are correct that DOS 3.3 will not recognize the 3.5" drive. DOS 3.3
is tied to the 5.25" drives for the most part. That version of DOS or
some form of it binds most Apple II programs to the 5.25" disk it came
on so the 3.5" drive will not help much with most programs you may want
to run.
I'd suggest you start by getting a copy of the System Utility disk or
Copy II+ and use it to get started into your ProDOS excursion. I prefer
Copy II+ 8.x as my utilities of choice for ProDOS.
Thankx,
Ed
