I was wondering if anybody has written a "Universal communications"
routine. I was thinking it might be interesting to have a program
segment which would take say, a 256 byte buffer and send it out through
a designated channel. The channel could be the printer port, modem port
(connected to a modem), network card, null modem cable (printer or modem
port), Appletalk connection, or anything connecting one computer to another.
The channels available would be described in a configuration file. This
file could be edited by the user (or a configuration program) to match
the system specs.
I've got a couple of null modem cables and a few GSs to play with. So
I've been thinking about a way to get the machines to talk with each
other (not necessessarily share files or anything as grand as that). I
find I keep running out of time every month. When I get back to it, my
train of thought is lost and I have to start over.
Later
Mike
