There is one other possible objection:  that a dirty or contaminated
head-load pad pressing on the disk on the side opposite the head
might score or otherwise damage the media.

I have never seen this problem, and a quick look at a few used disks,
comparing the surface quality of both sides, serves to rebut this
as a real concern.
