Re: Illegal Clones
<< That was true of the Franklin Ace 1000 and 1200. However, Franklin came
back with the 500 (a //c clone) and the 2000 (a //e clone), and both of
those were legal clones.
I happen to own the following Franklins: 1000, 1200, 1000Plus, 500, 2200
(2000: no internal drives; 2100: one internal drive; 2200 two internal
drives.)
I'd like to get a copy of the Franklin expansion chassis for the 2000
series.

Hey Roy, you forgot the one that started it all, the Ace 100. I have one of
them, and the Ace 1000 too. the Ace 100 had a beige bottom, and a dark brown
top. Same size as the 1000, but the case was totally different. Everything
else was the same.
We were an Apple dealer (Computer Port, Arlington Texas) back in the late
70's to mid 80's and started selling the Ace 100 when it came out. Apple sued
Franklin for copying the color circuit, and for a while there was a plug in
board that got around that. When I first popped the lid I was amazed that
Franklin had the balls to copy the layout of the Apple II+ so closely.
