I wouldn't be opposed to the idea...but in the meantime, have you looked at
Low End Mac?

They have several mailing lists pertaining to older Macs (one of their
busiest is the Quadlist, for '040-based machines).  There's even an Apple II
mailing list (ObOnTopic), but it sees relatively little traffic, compared to
this newsgroup.
