I'm afraid programming is out of my scope of capabilities, but I do
want to make an idea a reality, but cannot do so unless I get some
help.
I have an empty IIGS Vulcan drive case which I want to modify to hold
an IDE based LS-120 floppy drive. The physical modification would
involve cutting away the upper front portion, and then cutting an
opening on the front cover of my GS.
The Vulcan case has enough room for two 1/2 height devices. The hard
drive can go on the bottom, and the LS-120 on top.
The actual application I wanted was to have an internal high density
floppy drive/hard drive combo, (kinda like the ROM 4) for my GS, with
the added benefit of using the 120MB floppy as well.
Since I'm not rolling in money I can't afford to pay for a driver, but
I am willing to donate an LS-120 drive to someone who is serious and
committed to actually writing a driver.
As for interface cards, as far as I'm aware of, there are 3 IDE
interface cards for the GS:
Focus (Alltech)
MicroDrive/Turbo IDE(SHH Systeme)
CFFS IDE (R&D Automation)
It goes without saying that the potential writer of the driver will
need to have an interface card.
Of the above 3 listed interface cards, I know the first two do not
support master/slave setups. I'm not sure if they can be convinced to
updating their firmware to support it. I think I remember reading
somewhere that the CFFS might support a master/slave setup.
