Back in 1996 Ego Systems announced an "RTF Translator" module for Graphic
Writer III. The blurb from Ego says that the software allowed importing or
exporting rich Text format documants from/to Mac and Windows programs. ("Rich
Text" preserves font type fac, style, size, color, etc. as well as paragraph
indenting and justificatio.) The software came on a 3.5" diskette.

So, it seems fairly likely that GWIII with Ego's translator would be able
to create MS-Word documents and handle importing of at least some MS-Word
documents.

There may be a untility dedicated to doing Apple Text <--> MS-Word
conversions; but, I have not come across it.

Of course, Appleworks will strip out the LF char ($0A) which is part of
the usual PC line ender ($0D $0A). You might be able to set up macros (via
TimeOut "Ultra Macros", etc.) on Appleworks which will weed out the rest of the
stuff that can be embedded in an MS-Word file. In fact, Bev may have collection
of Appleworks macros which will handle all of your MS-Word conversion needs.

Programs like Shadowriter and the editor in Spectrum can strip out Control
chars. The Spectrum editor can also add LF's. The ProTerm editor probably
offers similar capabilities.
