As far as using a re-inker is concerned, I don't know. I do know another
way to dilute the ink on an existing ribbon. Simply unroll the ribbon,
spread it out on some newspaper, and spray it with WD-40. Let the excess
dry overnight, then roll the ribbon back into the cartridge. I've found
that a power screwdriver works wonders for that part of the job. The
ribbon will be once again print in black text, though it'll only last
about 80% to 50% as long, and it goes down slightly with each
rejuvination. I've never had it actually fail to work, because eventually
I screw up and get the ribbon hopelessly tangled, usually after an average
of six or seven rejuvinations.
This only works with black ribbbons, though it should work with single
color ribbons like blue, red, yellow, etc. It's an old typewriter trick
that should work with all ribbons. It does NOT work with 4-color ribbons.
The ink will run together and they will become some ugly inconsistant
mixture that is practically useless unless you're using it to print rough
drafts to check on spacing & don't care about color.
