The software may be on the net somewhere, maybe we can talk Wayne into
putting it on his site, which is where the manual is. You could try here,
maybe the vulcanpro.sdk is it:

Below is also a collection of notes I've made on the vulcans. I've done a
lot of experiments with replacement drives because the stock drives aren't
very reliable.

I've got two WD 93048-AD's working with Vulcan cards myself.
Could you please tell me which model of WD, and Miniscribe you
have working?
The Vulcan Gold upgrade is a firmware upgrade. I have v1.3GS,
v1.3E, v1.4, and v2.0 (gold) here. As far as I can tell,
the big difference with the gold is that you can lower the
interleave value for faster read/writes.
I have tried MANY 40MB, 80MB, 85MB, and 105MB HD's but none
of them work. The only ones I have which work are the 93048's.

To format drives using the Partition manager, highlight "format" and type
"AE".
Used PC drives must have the partion info erased. This program works well:

This is an archive with two programs. The one called WipeDrv.exe is the one
you want. It completely removes the partition and boot info, but doesn't
wipe out the IDE info. It's a free demo that only wipes 25% of the drive,
but that's sufficient to allow the Vulcan software to partition the drive.
And it's faster than wiping the whole drive.

Vulcan Gold firmware allows larger drives. Partition Manager 2.0 works with
it.
Vulcan Gold can use:
Conner CP30084 80meg 1/3 height C/H/S: 903/4/46
Conner CP3104 100meg 1/2 height C/H/S: 1547/4/33

To quote from the manual, pp50:
Switch 1, interrupt enable:
This switch must be closed in order for any interrupts
generated by the hard drive to pass through to the
Apple. (Interrupts are not used at this time.)
Switch 2, PS enable:
When pseudo-slotting in the Apple IIgs, this switch must
be closed. When pseudo-slotting in the //e or ][+, this
switch must be open.
Switch 3, ][+ boot enable:
Leaving this switch open allows a II+ or an unenhanced //e
to boot directly from the hard disk. If the hard disk is
not to be the boot device in these systems, this switch
should be closed. In a IIgs or an enhanced //e, this switch
should also be closed.
Switch 4, Pseudo-Slot Enable:
When this switch is closed, the controller card will show
up in slot 7, no matter which slot it is in. With it open,
the card uses the slot in which it is placed.

The signals assigned for 44-pin applications are described in table 16.
Although there are 50 pins in the plug, the mating receptacle need contain
only 44 pins (the removal of pins E and F provides room for the wall of the
receptacle).
The first four pins of the connector plug located on the device are not to
be connected to the host, as they are reserved for manufacturer's use. Pins
E, F and 20 are keys, and are removed.
