Possible, but very unlikely. You'd have to leave it in the sun for a while
to have a chance of this being the problem.

If it does anything but crash into the monitor, the EPROM is probably fine.
I'd look elsewhere for the problem. Is the disk functioning? Is it properly
terminated? Etc., etc.
