Are you using the same OS on your PC that you successfully used to make
transfers in the past?

My experience has been that transfers worked very well with Windows 3.1,
less well with Win95, and very poorly with Win98.

If you have a DOS-based telecom program, you might try booting into Command
mode and doing it in a DOS window. I've had a bit better luck that way.
