dead drive?

I just unboxed and setup my ][+ (which has been
in storage for 10 years).

After hooking everthing up...I turned it on and it booted
from the disk (that had been left in it for 10 years).
It booted fine and started the music/graphics for the
'Speedway Classic' game.

I removed the disk (it was kinda hung up - I think on the
read/write notch, which had been taped, but the switch
mechanism had pushed in the tape over the years).

I put in another disk...rebooted...it spun and spun and
then stopped.

Powered off...found another disk (a master disk, this time)
and restarted...immediately to the ] prompt - drive light
never came on.

Rechecked cables and connections. Unplugged the drive
from the controller card - rebooting now does nothing
(I assume the controller card is waiting for the drive
to respond...).

Hooked the drive back up - still nothing...no light, no
sound, no spinning disk :(

The //+ boots directly to the ] prompt. PR#6 never
responds.

Did the drive come out of it's 10-year coma only to
immediately have a heart attack?

Any suggestions?
