Aah, but what was the REASON for the obsolescence? Apples neglect of the II
line whilst the Mac was the darling of Jobs's eye. Did this not lead to the
break up between Jobs and Wozniak?
Apple made 2 mistakes:
1) They did not make the Apple II openly available to the market like
Philips did with the Compact Cassette, instead they prosecuted
clone manufacturers.
2) To much squabbling and in fighting at Cupertino instead of
concentrating on developing the product.
As for Jobs now - the Mac is still a niche product and is likely to
fade in the next 5 years due to Linux, Windows, BeOS, FreeBSD and others. Face
it the Mac is to locked into its own world to survive outside it.
