To get the drive speed I generally use Copy II plus
To change it you have to adjust a screw and where that screw is varies
with the various drives.
With the Disk II you have to remove the top cover. The adjustment screw
is on a small circuitboard at the rear of the drive. The screw is on the
right hand side
With the other Apple 5.25" drive the adjustment screw is on the bottom
of
the drive about 1.5" from the front.
Cleaning the drive head is also an extremely good idea
It's rarely that you have to do more than clean the head and set the
drive
speed
