Hello,
I recently managed to snag a Rom 3 IIgs and started comparing it
to the Rom 1. Noticed the chips for the onboard memory are (Rom 3)
MCM511000AP10 vs the (Rom 1) D41464C-15. If this is an obvious answer to
someone who understands hardware, forgive me. Was curious if the same
could be applied to the Apple memory card (1MB) to turn it into a 4MB
card simply by using the bigger chips. Really don't want to spend about
$300 on new memory cards for my 3 GS's if there is any way possible to
increase what is already there.
Also noticed a few Rom cards being constructed but was curious
about battery backedup ram being used for a solid state hard drive.
Thought with the ridiculous amounts of memory per simm these days a 20
meg or even 200 meg sshd wouldn't seem that impossible. (To those who
lack the experience, everything seems possible) Any chance this would be
an easier task than tracking down small scsi or ide drives that have
probably reached failure rates anyway?
