Re: A 3-button joystick?

Hello,

I found a disk with some MS-DOS joystick calibration software barried in a
file cabinet so I hooked the joystick up to my 286 to see what I'd find.
I found that the joystick acts as a two button joystick. The three red
dials on the side of the base switched the buttons between switch 1,
switch 2, and non-functional...so it would appear my original question was
in vain...Still, this will defenantly be my favorite joystick....I'm
always bumping the calibration dials/sliders on my other two joysticks.

Also it seems that some people seem to be in dissagreement about what the
pins on the Apple IIGS game port do...Here's what is in my IIGS manual:

External IIGS Game Port:
-------+------------------------
Pin # | Signal description
-------+------------------------
1 | Switch 1 (Option key)
-------+------------------------
2 | +5 volts
-------+------------------------
3 | Signal ground
-------+------------------------
4 | Paddle 2
-------+------------------------
5 | Paddle 0
-------+------------------------
6 | Switch 2
-------+------------------------
7 | Switch 0 (command key)
-------+------------------------
8 | Paddle 1
-------+------------------------
9 | Paddle 3
-------+------------------------

Some posts have me confused about the //c's joystick/mouse port (my other
Apple II is a //c)...I don't have a //c manual to go back on....I can use
a joystick with two buttons on it right?
