ProDOS's BASIC.SYSTEM uses a superset of the DOS 3.3 error codes, and
error 8 is I/O ERROR.
The ProDOS kernel and device drivers use a completely different error
numbering system, and applications other than BASIC.SYSTEM may report
the ProDOS error code directly. (I/O error is $27 for ProDOS.)
