Yes, absolutely.  Current the Jace RAM class supports both 8 and 16 bit operations -- and that extends all the way through the event handler subsystem used for I/O and cheats.  Though the current memory model doesn't understand an address space greater than 64K, it's not impossible to switch that later on.
