Bill, take a look at the AMPERNADA module in my NadaNet source. It is a
very compact parser for ampersand commands that look like function calls,
allowing for return values and error results. 

It illustrates the principles pretty well and should therefore be easily
adapted to other purposes. 

You will also want Call A.P.P.L.E.'s "All About AppleSoft" or some
equivalent guide to calling back to the AppleSoft parser.
