There are a huge number of Mac newsgroups ... unfortunately most of them
are infested with idiots, trolls, and know-nothings (I gave up even
bothering to reply in them), but you could try and *might* get a sensible
reply from the one or two people with actual brains in those newsgroups.
BUT as Michael Black says, the Low End Mac website is probably a better option.

There's also MacFixIt (http://www.macfixit.com), and the forums at places
like Mac Rumors (http://www.macrumors.com) and AppleInsider
(http://www.appleinsider.com), as well as Apple's own forum and support
website (http://www.apple.com).
There is the Hard Core Mac webstore which specialises in old software and
hardware, but they are heavily over-priced.
