My first Usenet post was to comp.sys.mac sometime in the late '80s asking for a modem cable pin out for use with my Mac 512K. Within minutes I got an email with some nice ASCII art for all Mac cables (to date of course).
Back then, Usenet was the most incredible place in cyberspace (can I still say that :-).
