Re: Broken Disk II

As stated above, I have two Disk II Interface cards: One is the original, involved in the misalignment; the other is a different one that should otherwise be fine.

I've asked my supplier of electronic parts if he can get a hold of the other three IC's on the analog card, so I can replace those to be sure that the Disk II is working. However, in the meantime:
After doing some Googling (or is Googleing?) I discovered that one could use a classic Disk II drive on the internal connector of an original Apple IIc. Which is what I have. Lucky me!

The drive seemed to be working fine with an empty disk (the IIc told me to check my disk) but wouldn't boot from a known good floppy (which is my Modem.MGR work disk). After reinstalling the internal drive of the IIc, I tried to boot from that same floppy to check the status of the drive, but it failed to boot (Check disk drive). Flipping it over and resetting it saw the IIc booting the installation disk. Could that mean that the Disk II drive contains more broken parts? Or is this a symptom of poor head alignment?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Eelco.
