Now I tried coming up on a CD with 9.2 on the G4 and tried to unstuff them again and still got the same results.

When I click on one of these 4.2 disk image (on the Mac) I get no mountable file systems.

Stuffit always seems to work, but the end result is these disk images in the folders that I just can not get back to real disks. That is they are not recognized as any correct formatt. I have copied them (the 4.2 disk images) on to a Zip 100 meg cart that is formatted in HFS standard so both the Mac and IIgs can see and use it. There were no errors when decompressing wih Stuffit. The end result is 4.2 disk image that shows up as a 4digit number. No letters in it. No, DO, DSK, PO, or SHK at the end. Even putting the SHK at the end did not help. One of them was larger then the 824K and could not fit onto a 3.5 disk in a shrank formatt of what was suppose to be Shrik-itgs.

Adding a file suffix/extension won't help.

It's entirely possible there is suffix, e.g. '.image', or '.dsk', etc, as back when those images were made on a Mac, the Macintosh didn't require the use of filename suffixes. Technically, the Mac still doesn't need suffixes, but it's good to use them to ensure Windows machines know what types of files they are.

I did try to use Asimov 2 to bring them back but they were not recognized as a formatt that it could use. I will try to DiskMaker, but I think the disk images are in the wrong formatt. I am wondering if coping the CD in extended verus standard (not sure how this happened) has something to do with it? I never tried to use it directly on the IIgs as they were first compressed with Stuffit.

Asimov 2 won't work – it only deals with .DSK and .2MG formats.

DiskMaker is the only IIGS program that will enable to you copy the image back to a 3.5" disk.

If not having the OS 9drivers on the Mac has something to do with it. Could it leave somthing off or add something?
Thanks for any help

I don't think you're missing any drivers. If you've got a Mac equipped with a 3.5" drive, try using Disk Copy that comes with OS 8/9 to copy those Disk Copy v4.2 images to a 3.5", using the Mac's floppy drive.
