I've not tried polishing glass before, especially not on a monitor, but
you might try finding a pane of disposable glass, scratch it, and try
some automotive polishing compound (like Macguire's) on it, with a
buffing pad.  Perhaps you can buff out the scratches?  I've done this
many times with really badly scratched CDs and DVDs (I know they are
plastic, not glass), and they look brand-new when I'm done with them.
