That was for a large part, the idea behind my Command Line Shell that you may have been reading about in my other posts. You type the name of the program at the applesoft prompt from within any directory, and the program is launched. No launching a launcher just to launch the program you want to launch. An alias would need to be created to link the file to be launched and stored in the Commands folder.
Also created is a file selector that can read a text file with a list of the program names and their directory locations and launch them. The selector is launched just by typing its name when the shell is in use.
Have also modified the BYE program to be a launcher to be used under basic.system and launch binary and applesoft programs as well as system files and leave basic.system in tact.
I am sure you are aware of the countless applesoft file selectors that can launch applesoft, binary and system files as well.
ProDesk, Teach Text Pro-Launch, Quix Elect, Windows 2.0, Sneeze ..etc
