My experience was that the system was VERY compatible with a standard
XT PC.

It was a fairly seamless experience and I used it in college when I
bought my IIgs and used it for my 1st year comp-sci classes.

I played a few games on it, but the IIgs games were MUCH better than
the CGA/XT games of the day.
