That won't work. Conventional wipe-contact sockets have a raised strip of spring metal that comes almost to the top of the plastic ridge.
But, I discovered that the .6" SRAMs have long enough leads to make contact even when sitting on the high-point of the strip. It's now running reliably (or at least as reliably as it ever ran at 12.5 Mhz.).
