Actually, you're kind of old for the Apple II.

The prime time for playing with computers was about when you are sixteen.
You want one, you get one, you spend all your time with it, you spend the rest of the time reading the magazines and books. (Of course, no internet to distract you back when the computer was new.) You dream of programs, or being in a program (I can never remember what I was dreaming), a result of spending so much time programming.

When you're older it lessens, other things come along.
