Yes, I still use the Cassette audio transfer interface. I had to fiddle with v 1.20 for ages before I finally got it working. It takes somewhere between 1200 and 1400 seconds to transfer a fully exomized 40-track .dsk image of games. I think that this time could be greatly improved if there was an option to disable the built-in RLE compression in ADTPro. I just tried your test version of 1.25, and it also works, a little faster for me. A 'normal' uncompressed 140k .dsk took 878 seconds to transfer, an Exomized 40-track disk of games, 1185 seconds.
Excellent - I'm sure the improvement is up to fewer block retransfers. The protocol chattiness absolutely _kills_ the audio version.
Thanks for the improvment, and if you can put in a user option switch to enable / disable RLE compression, it will be much appreciated!
You're quite welcome. I'm slowly forming ideas about how to make a new protocol that sends bigger block sizes, envelopes commands and responses, and is overall more resilient to retries/cancels. In an ideal world, it might be a good thing to have the side that prepares some data for transfer decide if RLE compression is likely to help or not, and decide at that time to "compress" or not.
