I will try and release a highly modified version of my Basic.system in a disk image soon.
Some other mods are:
The TIMES 10 routine has been given a huge speed boost. It is noticeable when cataloging a disk.
Typing PREFIX at the prompt puts the directory right after the word PREFIX so you just have to copy over with the right arrow to back up one or two directories.
The AUX TYPE column in a catalog listing is displayed in hex instead of decimal.
Basic.system loads up with an 80 column screen instead of a 40.
A 65C02 version was created that makes extensive use of PHX, PLX, PHY, PLY to save up a lot of space for more small subroutines.
I also created a UNIX command line system file that accepts all commands from disk. No more command limitations when using commands that store between basic.system and its buffers. I have completed about 30 commands so far with about 20 more in the mix.
A few of my favorite commands that are completed are
FIND - which displays the total # of files on a disk plus all locations and file types of each file found. Also uses a wildcard
DIR - uses mouse text characters to display hard drive and directory paths, but otherwise looks like a normal catalog command with a slight display change.
CDD - change default directory to which it accepts commands from
HELP - can display a help file of any command or program in the current directory or the commands directory
TYPE - highly modified TYPE command that can display a 16 MGB normal text with word wrap, list an applesoft basic file, a cool screen made of mousetext characters, AppleWorks word processor files, encrypted files that prompt for a password, and any other file in one of three formats; as a text file, as a hex dump, or as a ML listing.
UNFORK/REFORK - by file
UNDELETE - find deleted files in current directory and prompt to undelete
COPY - files and directories and can be recursive
UNNEW - fixes pointers of a basic file in memory that got corrupted by copying an applesoft file from a DOS 3.3 disk or by typing NEW at the prompt.
plus an ALIAS file that can point to any file in any directory, to run or view
plus dozens more great commands - some completed, some a work in progress
A shareware version of UNIX for Apple can be received upon request.
