I have a few USB gamepads that I use with AppleWin.   They have a MODE button on them, I don't know what the function is.  When in the "mode" an LED indicator turns on (on the gamepad).  when the LED is lit, the gamepad will not work with applewin.  This is with several gamepads that I own.  I push the MODE button and all is fine..
