The image I showed you guys must have been striped with garbage or zeroes from the bad transfer. Out of paranoia, I will play it a bunch before I upload to asimov. I also can scan the manual (no OCR, though) and photograph the box and disk. I reported on my ADT troubles in the ADT help forum.
That was the bit of history that I needed. A bug was introduced post-1.2.0, as I upgraded the assembler software. Long story short, there was one opcode that changed in the Disk II read routine, and that made all the difference. The images mostly worked, but lots of situations (especially the DOS 3.3 ones) made it fail. I've got it fixed now, and after more testing, will release the update.
