I recently acquired a Apple IIgs without a RGB monitor. I've started
the task of finding a suitable display that can generate high
quality. I know this has been discussed to death, but I hadn't found
any mention of the GBS-8200 route with Apple IIgs specifically, only
Atari ST, Amiga and Arcades.
I do not want to buy any CRT, as it seems like all monitors of that
generation are on their way to dying. So here are the options I've
been thinking (based on reading this forum) in order of preference.
Mainly I am hoping 1 will work and someone can tell me that they've
done it or believe it would work and what might be envolved.
1. GBS-8200
Theoretically will handle 14.5-16.5KHz through it's CGA mode (which I
assume is arcade CGA and not IBM TTL CGA.. I was curious if anyone has
done this and has pinouts + whatever (hopefully only passive)
components are needed. This option seems pretty cheap <$30 and decent
quality.
2. Make a SCART and buy a Avery or Highway 100 type adapter

This seems to work fine, but is much more expensive than option 1.
3. Make/buy a SCART cable and buy used a SCART samsung lcd monitors.
This seems like people have gotten this to work based on this cable

and this thread http://www.digipedia.pl/usenet/thread/1647/2037/
I'd rather not go this route because finding a TV with SCART is
already impossible in the US and will only get worse rather soon.
