Imagewriter LQ Questions

First off, is this printer backwards compatible with the Imagewriter 
(C-Itoh 8510) and Imagewriter II ESC command set? Basically will all 
older Apple II software that can talk to an Imagewriter II work without 
modification with this printer?

More importantly, does anyone have a copy of the Technical Reference 
Manual for this printer? I have the Imagewriter II one as its easily 
found used, but the LQ version seems to be quite rare. Nobody seems to 
have documented its unique ESC sequences either. A PDF would be great as 
this information isn't available online.

The reason I'm asking is that I want to take a crack at adding 
Imagewriter support to GSport. Obviously the Imagewriter has defacto 
Apple II software support, but the LQ also is supported by a GS/OS 
driver that likely supports its higher resolution and color. (Please 
correct me if I'm wrong, I have never used one before, let alone on a IIgs)

I would have considered the current Epson LQ emulation satisfactory for 
IIgs use, but support under GS/OS is lacking. None of the drivers I 
could find support color printing, including Harmonie (where can one 
obtain this program nowadays?). It does work great and in full color in 
The Print Shop GS however.
