and if you have a keyboard with one of these encoders, try this trick:
type and hold down M, then N, then B (holding all the keys down) - you'll see another character come in. There are many other 3 character combinations that will cause extra characters to come in. True N-key rollover keyboards require diodes in the matrix in order to work correctly. Datanetics/Apple left them out.
It's possible later encoders/keyboards will have similar behaviors, but I'll leave that to someone else to check out.
