You may want to take a look at a program called SHR convert or it's
updated version which is called something else. Converting the picture
to type $C0 or $C1 format might be a good idea. As to how to do this on
a PC, it should be easy if you understand how both files are
constructed. Otherwise you'd be better off doing the conversion on the GS.
