upgrading a stock rom3 gs

hi there, i recently acquired a couple of rom 3 models.

anyway i want to install os 6 on it, but i have heard that the stock 1
meg on a rom 3 is not quite just enough.

what about if i werre to take the upgrade card that is in my woz rom 1
model (a fully populated 1 meg upgrade card) and drop that into my rom
3?  would that work?
