I've got the manual for the original DeskJet and it includes instructions
for setting up an Apple Super Serial Card. It says to set the switches on
the card to 9600 bits/s, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity:
Left block - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Right block - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
0 0 0 1 0 1 1 1 0 0 1 1 0 0
Set the printer to 9600 bits/s, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.
Printer: Bank A - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Bank B - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
