Most HD drives (those used with IBM style PCs) can be switched from
HD/360rpm to DD/300rpm. However, you still have the "80 track problem".
An 80 track head writes narrower tracks than a 40 track head does,
therefore disks overwritten on 80 track drives cannot be read on a 40
track unit.
